Grayson Highlands, 2010

Last hiking and photography trip of 2010, this time in late October — to the Grayson Highlands State Park and nearby National Forest.

As always, with Phillip Bradshaw as my guide. Thank you, sir. (Big supporting thanks to some ASU students, too.)

I wasn't sure going into it what I'd get from this area of rocky grasslands and trees to sweeping vistas, but wound up pleased with the resulting set.

I go for walks around every day I can, and have decided it's long overdue to occasionally do one of those walks with a camera!

New York City (2010)

It had been more than three years since I'd been in New York City, and my life has changed dramatically during that time.

NYC, on the other hand, largely hasn't.

I played tourist, wandering from Grand Central (on 42nd Street) up Fifth Avenue to the Apple Store, between 58th and 59th, opposite the Pulitzer Fountain.

Only four hours or so, including some side streets and lunch, but a good time overall. Glad to have some good shots from the experience.

Obviously, it took longer than "next week" to get this set finished, but it's worth it — twenty-one nice shots, including several familiar subjects, in a freshly-refurbished and comfortable old-style apartment.

Connor's Third Birthday, 2010

Sunday, February 28th, was Connor Zook's third birthday -- and this gallery of thirty-two photographs shows everyone having a good time.

Of course there was cake and cute kids, but the bubbles were a great bonus.

Snow! (2010)

Twice in two years — wow.

Middle Georgia got between two and four inches of snow, depending on where you were; here at the house, I got three plus.

Didn't last long, of course. The Southern sun is strong, even in February. Hence, on my practice at Rose Hill the next day, much of it was already gone. (Still beautiful, though!)

A special Saturday edition of Cocktail Hour, to celebrate the holiday season, was held this past weekend at Thad and Rebecca's awesome home in downtown Macon.

Most of the photographs are of the decoration — something Rebecca always goes all-out with. However, there are a couple of portraits I like rounding out the set.

Thanksgiving, 2009

Celebrating a multi-year tradition of Thanksgiving with the Zook family — many, many thanks for the (continued) great company.

My main mission, in terms of photography, was to get some great shots of Connor, whom the camera hadn't seen in a couple of months — a big deal when you're his age. Thankfully, he — and his family — hit more than one out of the park that holiday.

Sweet.

Also got a few of Dan's amazing turkey routine, and Kim's kids, Meghan and Lydia, when they showed up later.
