Tornado!

Photographs showing damage and cleanup around Macon from the Mother's Day pre-dawn tornado.

My thoughts are with the many, many folks around Macon affected by this tragedy.

Macon State College, May 2008

A post-tornado look at Macon State College.

Initially planted in the late 1960s, the grounds contained several botanical gardens, countless flowers, and large stands of pine trees.

No more. I'd estimate that less than 20% of MSC's trees survived, many of the buildings were damaged (especially the construction zone), and, as I blogged in this before-and-after piece, I'm concerned for the ducks.

Review the campus only a few weeks before. I've added a couple of photographs to that gallery, as well.

Macon State College, April 2008

Photostroll at MSC — with Macon State Professor (Dr.) Gerald Lucas.

Interesting to cover a campus he's so familiar with and I wasn't; clearly, it was a case of "the resident and the guest."

Two different Macon-in-April photostrolls — one on the eighth, a second on the eighteenth — with friend and colleague Gerald Lucas.
